I am so excited to link up with Doodle Bugs this week for Five for Friday! We’ve done soooooo much this week, I only think it’s fitting to share my five random things from this week!
1. Professional Development Day!
Monday was a student holiday and a teacher professional development day for me.
We spent the day pouring over “Common Core” lesson plan templates….
Don’t they look like so much fun to use?! LOL! I need some KG Font on these babies!
2. Key Ideas and Details
The past few weeks we’ve been working on key ideas and details. To help teach this concept I’ve pulled out all of my my resources! The one that really helped was this interactive anchor chart I made
After reading a non-fiction text, each student got one blue sticky and three yellow stickies. Students wrote the central topic on the blue, and three supporting details on the yellow.
The kiddos love putting their thoughts on the anchor chart!
After everyone had placed their stickies on the chart, we went through and grouped the main ideas and details. We also discussed how a large body of text can have more than one central topic.
3. FALL has arrived!
Well the weather may not have… but the “look” of fall has thanks to my sweet sister-in-law! This week she brought over this beautiful wreath and a container of pumpkin blonde brownies (ahh-yeah… YUM!)
This week we touched a “little” bit on apples. After tasting Mrs. Langton’s favorite apple, honeycrisp (can I get a WOOT on that one!?) we brainstormed some adjectives for apples and created this sweet apple poem.

5. Gnome Bridge Building
This week we’ve been busy working on Sue’s, from Science for Kids, Gnome Engineering unit!
Today was the day we started building our bridges! I am so impressed at how well they are turning out! The excitement and engagement in my room was amazing!
Thanks for creating such a fun unit, Sue! (You can check it out here)
That’s some of my week… in a nut shell! Now it’s time to go get ready to enjoy my Friday night out with some sweet friends of mine!
