Today is my first official day of summer vacay and can I just tell you I am lovin’ it?! Mainly because I got to sleep in this am…
So yesterday was the last day of school and although it was low key, it was very productive!
I spent the am helping a fellow teacher clean out her storage area in the pod…
I seriously should have taken a before pic for this mini organization make over… it is like night and day!
Then I spent the early afternoon getting things ready for next year. I am blessed to know that I’ll be staying in 2nd grade and in my current classroom, so I was able to get a head start on prepping and ordering items for next school year. Early organization?! My heart sings!
Here’s a peek and what I started prepping…
I went ahead and ordered all my “Meet the Teacher” items from my “School Forms and Checklist” Pack
From this pack, I went ahead and printed out some of the “Welcome” sign up sheets,
and the volunteer sign up sheet.
I also went ahead and ordered my student information sheet…
and a WHOLE bunch of student checklists…
I can never seem to have enough of these!
I also started ordering recording pages for my most popular and favorite activities!
What incoming 2nd grader doesn’t need a little reminding on writing conventions? LOL!
These two are great for beginning of the year “training centers”. Click here or the pictures to check these out at my store!
My district had a huge push for student led discussions this year and it was an activity I know my kiddos enjoyed this year. I want to def continue this practice, so I went a head and ordered the 2nd grade self evaluation rubrics for my discussion cards.
One of my favorite beginning of the year activities is this writing craft centered around, “Mr. Putter and Tabby”, so I went ahead and ordered the pieces for this writing craft early.
I also took a few minutes and ordered recording sheets for math centers next year. I really want to prefect my math time next year and I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this pack!
If you stayed with me until the end, I promise it was worth your time! I love being organized an ready to go early and I know other teachers love that feeling too.
So I thought it’d be fun to do a little giveaway! I’m giving away ALL of these packs to 2 lucky winners! Just enter using the Rafflecopter below.
I’m picking the winners early next week! Now it’s time for me to have fun with this guy!

I have started getting my Super Hero decor ready by printing and cutting pennants, banners, etc. I ordered a Super Reader cape, masks, and Super Hero bags. The real work will be when I organize my materials in my new space. Everything is moved, but now I need to organize.
I have made some magnets for Back to School night with info.
I wish our district gave us post planning days. We just have to get everything done while the kids are there so I didn't do much except clean and organize my cabinet. Right now, I'm just buying way too much on TpT and calling it prep!
I have copied the first 12 weeks of math, language arts, homework, tests, and our morning work. I have also updated our 2nd grade yearly plan and started working on an new lesson planner. You packs would really help me with this.
I have started getting things ready to start daily 5 this year. I also have been doing some curriculum planning and mapping.
I still have two days left, but I plan to get all of my first week copies made to avoid all the chaos in the copy room. This summer we will also be overhauling our ELA curriculum.
The Traveling Teacher
I am trying to organize school files, pinning like crazy on pinterest, and spending a lot of $ on TPT!
Ummmmm…. I've printed off a couple of activities for centers ~ does that count?? :o)

I'm already having nightmares of getting to my class on the first day of school and nothing is ready!
I am working on my masters! But I am already brainstorming new ideas and of course have started my to do list!
Girl I wish I got started on next year! I'm trying to find a new job, so I don't know what I'll be teaching or where! The prep can't begin until I know for sure 🙂
This is the first year I haven't started getting things ready for next year. It was a crazy year and we ended with two all day meetings the day after school ended, so I just turned the lights off, locked the classroom door, and didn't look back. I've enjoyed my first two days of summer so far, but I know soon enough I'll be pulling out the lesson plans and chart paper. Just found your blog and I'm looking forward to checking out more. Have a great day!
I love how some people think we have the summer "off". It's amazing how much preparation it takes just for a following year to run smoothly!
Thanks for your post and hosting the giveaway!
I'm moving to 3rd grade from 1st grade so I am doing a lot of professional reading and shopping on TPT. I'm also looking forward to having the floors waxed at school so I can go ahead and start arranging everything in my new room! I wouldn't have even thought about printing out checklists and sign-in sheets already, but that's an easy thing to go ahead and get done! Enjoy your summer!
Wow you will be so ready next year! My room is clean and packed up so when I come back in August I'll get everything together.
Have a new reading program and have to get it all organized eeekkk.
I've started on things to redo my room. I

Since I start back work in 8 weeks I need to start somewhere. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can win your products and get a head start. If not, I will just get them from TPT.

Not a thing…yet!
"What have you done, or plan to do to get ready for next year, if anything?"
Everything… I am currently switching schools and have applied all over the greater Indy area. As for individually I'm gathering things for my next years classroom like decorations and class library books!
I want to bow down to your greatness! I was just happy to finish the year and pack up half heartedly. Seriously love your packs. I'm going to have to fill my shopping cart now that I'm going back to 2nd!
As soon as my carpets get cleaned I look forward to shifting furniture to set up new lit. stations! I am so excited to prepare for next year.
So far, I have started prepping my decor for next year: pirates! I'm also preparing a presentation on Common Core mapping for our district as well as helping my brand-newbie colleague get ready for her first year;) This week, I'll be going through my library…yay & nay for that job! Exhausting fun;)
SweetSchoolMoments
I haven't finished this year yet! So unfortunately, I haven't done any prep for next year, but I plan on working on decorating with a new theme for next year.
Let's just say I'm in the "research" stage for next year!
Hi Leigh! I've still got 11 teaching days to go, but I'm hoping to overhaul my classroom library and start while I still have older student helpers working in my classroom! 😉

I'm just starting planning for my first year of teaching – I just got my official job offer for next year, and I'll be signing the paperwork next week. So far, all I've really thought about is curriculum mapping; because I'm a drama teacher, I get to make all of the decisions on my own based on the state standards.
I haven't done anything for next year yet. I have been spending my last few days cleaning like crazy and getting rid of things. It feels good to throw things away 🙂
This is my first year teaching so I'm trying to figure out the best way to get ready for next year, now that I know what I do. :0)
I was able to get some everyday book type things made but I only have one week of summer to get anything accomplished and I have SO MUCH TO DO!!! A LOT of organizing and planning to do. Love your stuff!!!
We aren't done until June 18th so I am still in the "wrapping it up" mode! I will start on thinking about next year in a week! 🙂
My last day was May 29; we went on a cruise; I am in a Science InService today and tomorrow; I brought home my reading to organize and match it to my Science units. I've printed out a few freebies and that is about it! Thanks for the chance to win- it would be WONDERFUL! 🙂

I'm in a year round school, so I have a week turn around! I've started getting my poetry journals and meet the teacher stuff together!
It would be nice to start preparing for next year, but I change schools an grades every yer for the past five years. I am more organized at school than at home, but still need more work in my organization skills at school.
Unfortunately, Leigh, my current school year is not over until June 27th…so, nothing yet! I am planning to add either Cats or Dr. Seuss to my Primary Colours classroom theme!! Also, I usually start with my long range plans first. I know…exciting stuff! Lol.
I have been purging like crazy and organizing my files!

LOVE your post!! You are so organized! I have done little to be ready for next year. I started re-organizing my library but…other than that I have done nothing! If I had your fabulous products I would be motivated to do more 🙂 Thank you for the opportunity to win some amazing resources!! [email protected]
I'm still in school until the end of the week, so I haven't done a thing toward planning for next year! Once school's over though, I always start planning, even if just in my head. 🙂

What is this 'ordering' of copies of which you speak? We have to make our own…
Anyway, I did get some copies of things I am 100% sure I will use ready before school ended. And this summer I am cleaning up my digital files. Which is like a black hole…
Organizing my digital files…WHAT A MESS! But…I found thing I didn't know I had! 🙂 YIPPEE! Enjoy your SUMMER…don't work too hard…enjoy little one! Wendy 1stgradefireworks 1stgradefireworks
I have started gathering things to start the year off with a new discipline plan & what stations I want to use.
I have been organizing my classroom. I plan to put all the leveled books for each reading lesson in one bin instead of four. I also plan on writing in my reading teacher's guide all the amazing products I have purchased from TpT and TN.
I am cleaning out some of my books and files and making of a list of items that I want to look for at yard sales and stores over the summer.
Converting all my files into binders/page protectors;)
I've run a bunch of stuff for next year, I am laminating all kinds of new products I bought, I have my wish list made for TPT ?. Carol.
I hope to datacenters better organized.
I'm still working! Not done until June 26th! But…I have started some planning with my teaching partner next year. All supplies ordered!
I printed out, laminated and cut out some Word Work Centers. I also put them in a binder. I have printed out and got my lesson plan binder set up. The second grade team sent a bunch of stuff to the print shop (Daily Language Practice, Journals, Numbers to 1,000…). I washed and ironed my material for my bulletin boards. The only thing left to do is set up my room and look over the new curriculum (no small task!).
I already have ideas on things to do for next year. I will be working with a team of teachers to start planning our curriculum for next year. 🙂
I love to get organized early, too! I've been busy using our in-service days to prep our fall math bins, word work bins, and prepare my birthday treats for the kiddos!
I have been going through all my stuff and purging. I have also been pinning ideas like crazy!
Made all my copies for the first two weeks. Got all journals put together and workshop boards ready to go!
I am still in school, not thinking about next year until Friday!
Just enjoying my summer currently..not ready to start on next year yet. 😉
Before I comment on the blog I wanted to let you know that the link to your TpT is broken within rafflecopter.
I've started getting my lesson plans ready along with any forms that need duplication.
I love all of your ways to organize! Thanks for all your hard work. It makes my job much easier!
This post was just the inspiration I needed to start my prep work early. Thanks!
;( don't even want to think about next year yet !!!! Enjoying summer first 🙂
I am looking forward to what next year brings. Planning ahead for the year would be nice. You are always so generous with your raffles.
Wonderful forms! Would love to use these to assist with organization.
Thanks,
Kim

I've already been to school cleaning out my files and preparing for new ones. I am getting new shelves and storage cabinet (my cost) and trying to get organized. I'm also organized all of my resources at home. I am going to try to work until it is all done because the key to success is being prepared and so many times I'm not! lol Thanks for the chance to win.
I'm planning to organize all my files and clean out books that have not been used in a few years.
Copies are ran and I have a training on Wednesday for new Florida standards:)
Super giveaway!

Reading The Daily 5, updated version and making anchor charts.
I've been reading up on the Daily 5 and CAFE to implement next year.
Been working on getting assessments ready for next year.
I have had to change my classroom. Boy, 20 years of stuff is hard to move so I have been cleaning out and getting rid of stuff I no longer need!
I am cleaning out files. Here's my plan: Pull them out and put them out in the middle to where I can't start the year unless they are gone through. I am buying new shelves and a storage cabinet (my money) and having a place for everything. Wish me luck! My plan is to have everything copied and all units ready before school.
My goal is to organize all of my resources and centers and clean out the things I don't need or use.
I am moving to a new school AND a new grade! I am feeling very overwhelmed and am trying to read/blog-stalk/whatever as much as I can to be ready for the new year! 🙂 I have all of my stuff in storage and am waiting to get in my room. I don't think I'll be able to get into my classroom until one day before our "New Teacher Academy." Talk about stressful…
So far cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning!!
I have started retyping the reading tests. Planning for those first weeks.
I have started to prep room labels and anchor posters for next year. I have also been scouring TpT for resources!
I have already started to print out my students' morning work. Would love to win!
I plan to clean out my closet and Reorganize!
I am going in tomorrow to paint book boxes, clean, and organize! Thanks for the chance to win!
I spent 3 days going through my closet at school and getting rid of anything I hadn't used this past year. It felt so good!
I have to teach until June 25th! However I have started some planning for September.
Are you kidding? All I will be doing is preparing this summer! It is my first year of teaching! So much to do.
I haven't started yet. Was still up in the air about where/what I would be teaching. I have been organizing though! Once I confirm what I am teaching I want to start getting centers ready.
I'm moving classrooms. I want to get some planning done by trying to organize my ELA lesson plans around our social studies and science curriculum
