Giveaway Winners and a New Year’s FREEBIE

I think I may have been enjoying my vacation a little too much… I didn’t get nearly half as much done as I wanted too… but I did make sure to spend LOTS of extra snuggle time with this Dapper Danny!
I am ready to announce the winners of the little giveaway I had running this past weekend.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Congratulations ladies! Nancy from VeryUnLadyLike will be in touch with you soon so she can customize your prizes!

Didn’t win? Don’t be sad. Nancy has offered a 10% discount for all of my fans from now until January 22nd! Just use the discount code: TeacherFriend10 when you check out.

Did I mention she just uploaded a TON of new designs and fonts? AND if you don’t see something that is *perfect*, then she can custom make one just for you (‘cuz she’s awesome like that!)
I hope you visit it her shop and take advantage of the savings!

Now, many of you are back at school today (or snowed in!) I (fortunately) still have one more day off (we don’t have “snow days” here in FL…) Don’t ask me why we have today off. I prefer to not to look a gift horse in the mouth. 🙂

If you are still in need of a quick and easy New Year craft, I whipped up this up for my seconds to use.

I plan on using this tab book for my writing activity tomorrow.

I found this wonderful quote from Katie over at Mind Sparks,

and thought it would be a perfect lead in for brainstorming our 2014 goals!

I’ve included a couple different designs in the download.

Dots!

Chevron!

 Squiggles!

and even a blank so your kids can add their own designs and colors!

For my kiddos, I printed out an assortment of styles onto different colored paper.

 They LOVE the bright shades!

The Friday before Winter Break I attended a district provided workshop hosted by Catherine Jones Kuhns.

How stickin’ cute are those cups?! She uses them as math manipulatives for centers. Here’s a close up…
Cathy had some AMAZING ideas and has written several books
Here’s the one she focused on for our workshop!
(REMEMBER BEAN STICKS?!?!?)

Cathy was amazing and presented some WONDERFUL ideas on making math more hands-on (and CCSS aligned) in the classroom. She reminded me of some great math strategies that I used to teach once-upon-a-time.

So… now I am adding one more activity to my “Just the {Basic} Facts” unit.

I really want to hit home the idea of number bonds. I’ve taught the idea of “part, part, whole” in the past and would like to revisit this idea in the next few weeks.

I’ll be adding (It’s up!)  this activity to the pack.

Be on the look out for the update later today! Enjoy the rest of your day and stay warm!
