O.M.W! Today is only the first day of this week, and my kiddos were little balls of uncontrollable energy. Then, I read that there is also a full moon!
It’s like the perfect storm of every teacher’s nightmare!
Well I wanted to quickly share what we’re up to this week in the Applicious Classroom as well as link up with some sweet friends of mine and share a few holiday favorites. Or maybe it’s because I couldn’t resist their promo…
First up, activities this week! (Don’t worry I *promise* we’ll come back to Ryan… ;))
We are in full on Christmas and holiday mode in our classroom this week!
We are working out of Sarah Cooley’s (from “First Grader At Last”) pack,
“Christmas Around the World”.
(Click the pic to check it out in her store!)
We as a team we purchased her scrapbook (and multiple user licenses). We each took a country to focus on. For the next few afternoons, the kiddos travel to a different country to learn about their holiday celebrations.
I snagged up England. My kiddos LOVED seeing the English Christmas Cards from my husband’s family in Liverpool and the British coins I brought in.
I used Google Earth to “fly” to England from our location.
(click here to see other ways I use this amazing program in my classroom!)
I made up this quick power-point presentation to go with Sarah’s England page.
(Click here or the pic to grab this presentation for FREE!)
We also made those delicious smelling cinnamon ornaments today.
You can grab the recipe I used here. Can’t wait for them to dry so we can decorate them with puffy paint. I have a confession… I may or may not only make these because they make the classroom smell so festive and yummy for days! 😉
We also published our Santa letters today!
These are from my persuasive letter writing unit, “All I Want for Christmas”.
They turned out so cute! My kids loved sharing the one special thing they really wanted for the Holidays with their buddies. (Click here to see more of this activity)
Ok… Now back to Ryan! (see top of post to refresh your brain!)
I’m also linking up with sweet and sassy
Tamara and Daina today to share with you a few of my favorite holiday things unwrapped!
Today is holiday food…and oh man is this a hard one! There is always soooo much deliciousness floatin’ around this time of year. But if I had to choose…
This one would be it!
I love this stuff! You know it’s Christmas when you walk down the candy aisle and you see this on the shelves
(and subsequently think… must not buy… must not buy!)
I prefer to make this treat at home. I use this super simple recipe from Savory Sweet Life.
Ps- This makes a perfect “what do I get you?” gift! 😉
Whew! I’ll be back tomorrow to share some more holiday happenings and to unwrap Ryan, I *mean* favorites with Tamara and Daina.
